Jalan-jalan Cari Makan_ Cukai_Kemaman_Trengganu

This seems to be a very popular restaurant in Cukai, Kemaman district in Trengganu.
The place is packed with diners during weekends.

Although the shop may have a long history, but it is keeping up with the trend . Website pun ada, don't play-play.....

Their signature dish:stuffedcrab, but actually so so niah, nothing so special.

We only ordered the normal dishes, takut not enough $ to pay the bill, hahaha......

If you have not taken breakfast in this kopitiam, then you cannot considered have been to Kemaman. This is more or less like a local landmark.

The morning crowd.

The breakfast table, help yourself, eat first then pay later... wua caya sama lu......

So far the best kopi-o I have tried. But the second helping I ordered not as perfect. QC not consistent.

In the small fishing village of Kuala Kemaman, locals busily making lekor keropok.

Another local speciality, satar. They are grilled over charcoal fire, taste like spicy fishball.

My 'Masterpiece"

Normally a kitchen sink tape may look like the one in the above picture. My sink tape also look like that, until today.

The water tape has been leaking slightly for quite some time. So I decided to do an unconventional makeover.
.
.
.
.
After half a day of sweat and labour, I created this masterpiece...........
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

It is a piece of art. Don't you agree?

It looks cheapskate but very functional. Each sink has its own stop-cock so no need to swing the goose-neck tape left and right. The counter-top water purifier has its independent stop-cock as well.
Total cost of material: RM38
Labour charge : FOC

But I still have a bit of finishing touch to take care : how to improvise an adaptor to connect the counter-top water purifier to the centre stop-cock.

Searching for inspirasi...................
Edited after 3 days...........

Finally inspiration came and this is the end result.

Takda!!!!!!!!!!!

Different Setting

This is a chinese temple, just like any other temple.

But this temple is situated on the 4th floor of a hotel and shopping complex.
Unique, isn't it?
Facing the temple is a stage complete with an urn ( or furnance or whatever it is called) which is used to burn "kim chua" (golden paper for offering)
Chinese opera or singing stage show will be staged here during temple festival.

Just wonder, will crowd control be a problem? How about emergency exits, are they adequate?
Security problem?

Just next to it are conference rooms. Will noise become a problem if both types oy activities are held simultaneously?

I am scratching my head...............

The place is in Pulau Langkawi.

Tun M's Kedai Roti

I have heard about it and have read about it in the papers.
Finally, I patronised it.
The high class kedai roti is called:

The setting is rather upmarket.

Standing there, you may have the feeling that you are in Europe.

But actually, you are in PULAU LANGKAWI.

Go Around the World on 4 Wheels

While in Cherating, we met this friendly Swiss couple, Kari and Ulla. They have been on the road for 14 months since April 2008. During those time they have been to Croatia, Albania, Greece Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India ,Singapore and Malaysia. Their next destination will be Thailand and the neighbouring countries, then off to Australia and New Zealand .

So they will still be moving around for many more months or years to come, in this mobile home that they named passionately, " friieda" .

They blog about their journey through here:
The blog is in German and I used the babelfish to translate it into English.
The ever obliging Kari was kind enough to show us the interior of his "home". It is a very well equiped mobile home with all the basic amenities. How nice if I am as courageous and as brave as Kari and Ulla to see the world like this
.
Next to friieda was parked this "German Tank". It is "home" for another German couple.

The lady of the "house" was busily cooking. So we didn't have chance to chat.

Wish you all the best in your future endeavour, Kari and Ulla.

Cherating

The whole family went to Cherating recently for a few days of sun and fun.

Whenever the word 'Cherating' was mentioned, friends would ask:
" You went to Club Med ?"
" No lah, Club Med very expensive le, where got so much money?"

Actually, We booked this place.

The chalets are quite ok actually, considering it only charges RM88 / day for a family unit with a queen and a single bed, and attached bathroom.
The only setback is that they are not by the beach. We had to walk 5 minutes to go mandi laut.
A bit inconvenient la.

If I have known, I would have booked this chalet instead.
Just walk out the door and one can jump into the sea.

I will most likely stay here if ever come to Cherating again.

How to kill time in Cherating ah?
Go snorkelling?.......... already done that in Pulau Redang and other pulau.
Go for river cruise and watch fire fly?...... not very keen.
Join a guided tour to look out for mother turtle laying eggs? ......... no fun

Aiyah just go mandi laut la. During low tide, walk 100m into the sea and the water is still only knee deep.

or just admire the beautiful sunset

or drive 20 minutes to Kuala Kemaman, at the border of Trengganu

Although the weather was very hot and the sun was burning the skin, the view of the open sea was beautiful.

A bit surprise to find a rather grand SJKC here. Must be quite a large number of Chinese staying around this area.
