How to tell if Anxiety is making you feel ill ?
It is stated that : " You may be coming down with a cold. You may be coming down with a serious disease. Or you may be just have anxiety. It's sometimes hard for people to believe that feeling ill can come from anxiety. But it's a very real experience that affects many people.
The stress from anxiety can cause feelings of very genuine sickness. These feelings often mimic the way illnesses make you feel. Your stomach can feel like it's rumbling and you may feel even nauseated. Feeling sick may be a sign that you've fallen ill, but it can also be a sign of anxiety"

Sometime ago I occasionally felt some discomfort in my chest. It was like having a bit of chest pain and slightly difficult to breathe. Made an " ahem " and then only could breathe better. I was thinking: Am I having a heart condition? Is there any artery blockage somewhere?
I went to a hospital and did an echo cardiogram. Result : " Normal Echo"
I did a stress ECG as well. Result : " Negative/ no heart condition"
I related this experience to my regular family doctor. He smiled and said : " It can be psychological. If you think you are sick then you may feel sick. The symptoms are induced by anxiety."
That was the first time I heard about " Anxiety is making you feel ill."
Recently my mother was not feeling well. She complained about chest congestion, dizziness , lethargic etc.
We sent her to a hospital to do blood test, echo cardiogram, CT scan and endoscope. Results were all negative. It was good news that her organs have no issue. But what caused her to " not feeling well" ?
Then the doctor said : " It could be your mother think too much and worry too much. Anxiety can cause "troubles" from head to toe."
That was the second time I heard about : If you think you are sick then you will feel sick"
What do you think? Do you have this experience ?
Then next time when we are sick, we have to ask ourself : " Am I really sick or it is just psychological?"
Wow! It is really tough to determine....
To find out your anxiety level, may be you would like to take an anxiety test here
p/s : An gastroenterologist diagnosed that my mother was having gastric problem or bile refluxc.Medication would cure it.
