Bocor

My Merz has a bocor rear end. It is farting quite loud lately.

It is time to change . Money, money, money............

From the label, it is an OEM unit from Germany. I wonder whether the former owner has it replaced before, or it is the unit that came with the car from the assembly plan. 15 yrs already, can it be?

Now my dilemma is whether to fix a locally produced unit (cheaper), or to get an OEM unit from Germany, or to search for a 2nd hand unit from chop shop. Is there anybody that buy a 2nd hand muffler? I won't want to be a laughing stock. Who knows, the chop shop guy may laugh to death when I ask for a 2nd hand exhaust pipe. Hahahaha.....

  1. ooifa,
What a coincident, my W124 also got bocor rear end but not as serious as yours. I tell u what, the ori with twin tail-pipes costs around 1K! So I just welded it - the money used to buy new ContiComfortContact tyre [RM960.00]....

BTW so far I've found a few things we have in common..
    1. Peugeot 405-series
    2. MB W124-series
    3. Panasonix LX-series
    4. DIY-kaki..

    what else mah?

  2. Wan,
Mine so badly rusted. I doubt it can be welded. I am considering a local unit , may be from Everco. Cost should be around 400+-.

Ya u are right, we have quite a no of things in common.
But 1 big difference I noted is:
You have 2 newer pugs in your garage.
I will not get close to any newer pugs. The cars are too smart but the service guys are not as smart. Heard a lot of horror stories about them.
