My poker card

It has been more than one thousand days since my last posting here. Let me resume by sharing something I have done lately in making my new toy.
Nowadays it is very trendy to make a copy of  photobook for occasions like travelling, birthday, wedding, new born baby etc. Otherwise all the digital shots will be stored in the handphone or computer hard disc and seldom accessed. There are many online companies like Pixajoy, Photobook , Photobookmart and others that offer this service. If we are on the lookouts for online purchase from Groupon , Livingsosial etc, we may be able to get big discounts in making a photobook. So it is not really that costly to make one afterall. I have made a few for my travels, especially the family trips.

Recently I chanced upon another new found past time from this blog and here.
So I am going to make a deck of poker cards, The Oois' Poker Card.

Recently Pixajoy had a promotion for playing cards. A deck of cards cost RM25 instead of the normal price of RM69

After purchasing a voucher I signed in to their website and created a project.

The project has to be given a name.

One can either key-in the purchased voucher code straight away or skip this step and key in later when the project is completed.

There are 2 types of card : poker or pair card.

I chose poker card. Then I chose the modern theme where I could insert a photo in the centre of the card.

To design a complete set of poker cards, I had to design 1.the box cover, 2. the identical back of all the 56 cards and 3. the individual pattern of all the 56 cards. That means I need 58 photos if I want the cards to look different.
Photos can be chosen from computer, facebook and other sources. Text box can be added to the cards as well.

Choose the photo file and then start the upload

Select the uploaded photo and add it to the Editor

Then drag the photo to the photo frame. Size of the photo can be adjusted.

The designed cards can be reviewed by clicking the review button

Click " continue editing" to continue the designing process.

If the designing has been halted , just click on the " pencil icon" to continue.

One week after I have uploaded my completed project to Pixajoy, my poker card was delivered to my doorstep.

Calling all the Oois! This will be our game for the coming Chinese New Year.

Third visit to China

Recently I visited China for the third time. Just like the previous 2 trips, I flew AirAsia from Penang to Macau. Then I crossed the border to Gongbei in Zhuhai. I have toured areas around Guangzhou , Shenzhen and Hong Kong. This time I want to venture further. So I took a sleeper bus, travelled 13 hours for a distance of about 700km and end up in Yang Shou in the Guilin province. This is the happening place in Yang Shou, the famous West Street. I arrived at 6.30 in the morning, so the street is deserted.
